What Is S.O.A.P.?

At L3 Church, our desire is that every Christ-follower would not just attend church, but also hear from God daily through His Word and the Holy Spirit’s voice. We believe that doing daily devos (devotions) re-patterns the way we think, transforms our heart, and helps us to become more like Jesus.

S.O.A.P. is a simple and excellent way to both record and process what God has spoken to you. It’s also a useful tool to use at a later time when you want to reflect on and review some of the ‘gems’ that you have received. Without writing them down, you may forget those blessings and important lessons!

4 Helpful Tools

  1. A Bible.

  4. A quiet place to reflect.

How to S.O.A.P.

S – Scripture

Write down in your journal a verse or two that stands out to you.

O – Observation

Ask the Holy Spirit for insight. Write down observations about the scripture. What do you think God is showing you?

A – Application

Personalize what you have read by asking yourself and God how it presently applies to your life.

P – Prayer

Ask God to speak to your heart right now. Quiet yourself. What do you hear? What do you see? Pray about what you just learned and ask  God to make it a part of your life.
